synopsis
Yelda is the daughter of a low class Kurdish family whose bonds have quite faded with the loss of their son. She carries all the burden of this death on her shoulders. While the father is struggling with unemployment, the mother is able to cling to life only with her son’s gradually disappearing dreams. What condemns the family to stick together against all odds is the dense experience of the shared mourning and “pain” that are gone through the young girl.

Yelda, oğullarının ölümüyle bağları iyice silikleşen alt sınıf bir Kürt ailenin kızıdır. Bu ölümün tüm yükünü tek başına omuzlarında taşımaktadır. Baba, işsizlikle uğraşırken; anne, oğlunun günden güne yiten hayalleriyle ayakta durabilmektedir. Aileyi her şeye rağmen yan yana olmaya mahkûm eden şey ise, genç kız üzerinden tutulan ortak yas ve “acı”nın yoğun yaşantısıdır.

director’s biography
Tolga Yildiz (born in 1985) has been making films since he found himself insufficient in writing poetry and short story. Yildiz, who is a graduate Psychology student at Istanbul University, regards “To Hurt” (2008), after a few plain trials, as his first short film which has again been shot by the same independent equipments, used in the previous films.

Tolga Yıldız (d. 1985), öykü ve şiir yazımında kendini yetersiz saymasından bu yana sinema yapmaktadır. İstanbul Üniversitesi Psikoloji yüksek lisans öğrencisi olan Yıldız için “Acımak” (2008), birkaç denemeden sonra, yine tam bağımsız ve aynı basit teknik olanaklarla çektiği ilk kısa filmidir.
